Key elements of our journey together
Wellness counsellors focus on enhancing clients' well-being through collaborative assessment and support but do not diagnose or provide medical treatments. Their scope of practice excludes psychotherapy to avoid overlapping with registered professions like doctors, psychologists, therapists, or social workers.

So, who am I?
Hi.
I am delighted to have you visit my website and look forward to getting to know you. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Liesel Swartz, a Specialist Wellness Counsellor with a deep passion for helping individuals navigate life's challenges and achieve mental wellbeing. Beyond my professional role, I wear many hats: I am a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and so much more. Each of these roles enriches my understanding of the diverse experiences and struggles we all face.
My family often refer to me as "Mother Theresa" because of my unwavering willingness to extend a helping hand to those in need. This nickname is a testament to my commitment to supporting others with kindness and understanding.I believe in creating a non-judgmental and supportive space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions.
My professional journey has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to guide clients through their personal journeys of recovery, resilience, and flourishing.

All our services are strictly online with sessions held over Google Meet, WhatsApp or Zoom. We are here to help you navigate through life's challenges. We offer individual, online counselling services that are tailored to your specific needs. Online counselling offers several key benefits, including improved accessibility for those in remote areas, the convenience of attending sessions from home, and flexible scheduling. It allows individuals to seek support in a comfortable and familiar environment, reduces stigma by providing a sense of anonymity, and ensures continuity of care even if circumstances change.

Our couples counselling services are designed to help you and your partner improve communication, work through conflicts, and strengthen your relationship. We are here to guide you through the process and help you build a strong and healthy relationship. The goal of couples counselling is to foster a healthier, more satisfying relationship by addressing issues and improving overall dynamics between partners
Stress is the body's reaction to challenges or threats, causing physical, emotional, and behavioural changes. Anxiety involves excessive worry about future events, often without a specific cause. Counselling provides a supportive environment where individuals can explore their stress and anxiety, understand its sources, and develop strategies to manage it
Trauma counselling is focused on helping individuals cope with and heal from traumatic experiences, such as abuse, accidents, or violence. The goal of trauma counselling is to help individuals regain a sense of control over their lives, reduce trauma-related symptoms, and improve their overall well-being.
Grief counselling is designed to help individuals cope with the emotional, physical, and social effects of the grieving process. It provides a safe space for expressing feelings of sorrow, anger, guilt, and confusion
Depression is marked by persistent sadness, loss of interest or pleasure in activities, and a range of physical and emotional issues that impact daily life. It can lead to feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, and a sense of being stuck, making it difficult to function normally. A holistic wellness approach to counselling addresses depression by considering the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Counselling can help individuals with depression by first identifying the root causes, whether they are emotional, psychological, or even physical. Developing coping strategies is key, offering practical skills to handle symptoms and enhance daily functioning. Counselling also provides support and encouragement, offering a safe space to express feelings and receive validation. Setting realistic goals and fostering a sense of purpose and direction are crucial in helping individuals move forward. Overall, this holistic approach aims to reduce symptoms, improve mood, and promote overall well-being, enabling individuals to regain control over their lives.

Sessions, duration and frequency
Session bookings are subject to availability. The utmost effort will however be made to accommodation urgent or pressing appointments.
Couple’s sessions will require both parties to be present for each session.
All communications will be mirrored and sent to both parties.
All sessions are conducted online.
The session requires two-way video communication throughout. Lack of camera access may hinder the session's effectiveness and lead to cancellation.
Sessions are generally booked a week apart subject to extenuating circumstances.
The counselling provided is supportive, facilitative, and short-term. It typically involves 5 sessions and should not exceed 10 sessions within 6 months.
Payment terms
If a package of 5 sessions is purchased, then a period of 6 months will be allotted for the use of those sessions. Allotted sessions not redeemed within this 6-month period, will unfortunately not be refunded.
Please note that counselling with an ASCHP registered counsellor, is not reimbursable through medical aids, and is considered a private service.
Booking information
After you have made your booking, please fill in the indemnity and intake form, which can be found here, before your first session. This indemnity and intake form will need to be signed and returned before the commencement of the 1st session.
We offer secure online payment through SnapScan. Please note that payment is required upfront, with proof of payment required a minimum 48 hours before the session booking. Please send the proof of payment to accounts@counselling4u.co.za. If, within 48 hours, after the intake session, a client decides that the counsellor-client fit is incompatible with their requirements, then they may terminate the relationship and all future sessions.
